DES MOINES — Meteorologists issued an advisory across much of Iowa Thursday after the dew point climbed to levels normally found inside the human mouth.
The National Weather Service reported that stepping outdoors would feel less like entering the atmosphere and more like being gently breathed on by an enormous farm animal. Iowans were advised that sweating would no longer accomplish anything because the surrounding air had reached maximum sweat capacity.
By afternoon, residents reported needing to chew their way through the atmosphere to reach their vehicles.
Meteorologists said conditions should improve after a cold front arrives sometime in October.
