OSKALOOSA — The Central Iowa Klavern of the Ku Klux Klan on Saturday declared the Oskaloosa High School students involved in racial-slur-and-vandalism homecoming antics “the bravest young patriots in Mahaska County.”
“These kids didn’t just TP a few houses — they stood up for free speech the old-fashioned way,” Grand Dragon Earl McAllister said while adjusting his hood. “And look at the outpouring of support. Real Iowans are speaking up.”
In a particularly revealing development, The Iowa Cob obtained the ChatGPT prompt used by one local resident whose 500-word Facebook essay carefully condemned “collective punishment” while insisting the real victims were the students who may have yelled racial slurs and frightened families.
The prompt read, in part:
“Write a long polite post saying I completely disagree with canceling the football game and dance. Stress that any students who used racial language or damaged property should of course face consequences, but make sure it dont sound like Im only upset because I hate black people. Emphasize tradition, individual responsibility, and how unfair it is to the innocent kids. Use big words.”
McAllister called the prompt “refreshingly honest.”
“That’s exactly how we feel,” he said. “We’re not defending racism. We’re defending the right to do racist things without everybody making such a fuss about it.”
