PERRY — Area resident Steve Collins once again found himself trapped Wednesday in what psychologists describe as the uniquely Midwestern nightmare of instinctively lifting two fingers from the steering wheel to acknowledge a man he has actively disliked for nearly 15 years.

According to witnesses, Collins recognized the approaching pickup as belonging to former coworker Brad Jensen approximately two seconds before the pair passed on a county highway, providing just enough time for muscle memory to completely override decades of resentment.
“I saw it was Brad,” Collins said. “My brain screamed, ‘Don’t wave.’ My hand had already committed.”
Jensen reportedly returned the gesture with equal enthusiasm before both men continued driving while privately hoping the other eventually moves to Missouri.
