NEW YORK — The WNBA Players Association announced Thursday that players would boycott all games until the league agreed to restore the peaceful, pre-Caitlin Clark era while preserving charter flights, sold-out arenas, billion-view social media clips, lucrative television contracts and every other inconvenience brought about by Caitlin Clark.
“We simply refuse to play until everything goes back to exactly the way it was,” players said in a joint statement, “except the money.”
Commissioner Cathy Engelbert reportedly assured players the league was already exploring several alternatives to Clark, including “mysterious spontaneous popularity” and “everyone suddenly deciding to care at the exact same time.”
League officials cautioned that removing Clark could unintentionally reduce attendance, television ratings and sponsorship revenue.
Players dismissed the concern as “needlessly rooted in cause and effect.”
